Uniting Communities for Change
We are living through a moment of all-out tyranny in America — where billionaires, extremists, and corrupt politicians dismantle democracy piece by piece, and where government agencies, including ICE, are weaponized to spread fear and enforce oppression. ICE agents engage in racial profiling, refuse to show identification, cover their faces, and often operate without warrants or due process, targeting vulnerable communities. Families are being separated, and women who are arrested are sometimes deported and never heard from again, as if they have vanished. Entire communities are treated as threats rather than human beings. At the same time, our First Amendment rights — the freedom to speak, protest, organize, and demand accountability — are under attack. The government has engaged in military overreach both domestically and abroad, using force to intimidate and suppress dissent. Essential public services are being stripped away: government shutdowns, cuts to healthcare, Medicaid, and food assistance programs leave millions vulnerable, while attempts to dismantle the Department of Education and sue universities threaten access to learning and the future of our students. Laws are being broken with impunity by those in power, including actions like Congressman Mike Johnson’s refusal to swear in a duly elected Democratic Congresswoman just one month after her victory, undermining the rule of law and democratic norms. International policies, including escalating tariff wars, threaten our economy and the livelihoods of working families across the nation. Media independence is under siege, with attempts to force Pentagon-controlled outlets into state-run channels, restricting access to unbiased reporting and controlling the narrative for political gain. Meanwhile, Donald Trump has publicly stated his intention to seek a third term in 2028, signaling that the threat to democracy is ongoing. Too many remain silent or hope the storm will pass on its own. We reject that passivity.
We are rising up, organizing, speaking out, and resisting in every space we occupy. We refuse to normalize authoritarian rule, ICE raids and racial profiling, deportations, censorship, military intimidation, attacks on healthcare and social safety nets, assaults on education, violations of the law by government officials, economic policies that threaten working families, suppression of independent media, or attempts to entrench authoritarian power for the long term. We will not leave our future, or our freedom, in the hands of those who would destroy them. This is a time for courage — and courage demands action.
