Representative Eric Burlison Joplin District Office 2727 East 32nd Street, Suite 2 Joplin, Missouri 64804
SUBJECT: Formal Notice of Oath Abandonment – Demand for Immediate Reversal
Date of Incident: January 13, 2026 (telephone town hall) and February 17, 2026 (delivery of demands) Location: Online Town Hall / Missouri’s 7th Congressional District / Joplin District Office Witnessed by: Missouri‑07 constituents from Joplin, Carthage, and surrounding communities
Representative Burlison,
We, your constituents from Missouri’s 7th Congressional District, submit this formal Notice following your public rejection of impeachment for President Donald Trump and your continued refusal to use constitutional remedies in the face of executive abuses.
On January 13, 2026, during your telephone town hall, you were asked about impeaching President Trump. You responded: “I don’t agree with the president on everything, but I certainly don’t believe it warrants attempting to impeach the president.” This statement, issued after unauthorized strikes on Venezuela, ICE paramilitary actions, and obstruction of Epstein‑related investigations, is an explicit refusal to consider impeachment as a remedy.
On February 17, 2026, we delivered to your Joplin office clear, specific demands grounded in the U.S. Constitution. We requested that you:
File or co‑sponsor articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump and key enablers for high crimes and misdemeanors, including:
Launching unauthorized military strikes on Venezuela in early 2026 without congressional approval (violation of Article I, Section 8 war powers).
Directing ICE and federal forces in paramilitary actions against U.S. civilians, including child seizures from homes and warrantless workplace raids that create a climate of fear in Missouri communities (abuse of executive power).
Obstructing federal investigations into crimes tied to Jeffrey Epstein’s trafficking network, shielding powerful allies from accountability (obstruction of justice).
Introduce or support legislation to defund and abolish ICE, replacing it with constitutionally compliant alternatives that protect public safety without paramilitary terror.
Support all existing House resolutions targeting officials who weaponize executive authority against civilians.
Your prior town hall statement, combined with your failure to commit to these demands, constitutes a continuing refusal to employ impeachment and legislative checks against documented abuses. This refusal is not neutral; it actively enables executive lawlessness.
Your constitutional oath (Article VI) states: “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic…” Article II, Section 4 provides that “The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.”
Unauthorized war, domestic state violence, and obstruction of justice qualify as high crimes and misdemeanors. Your oath binds you to the Constitution—not to President Trump, party leadership, donors, or political convenience. By rejecting impeachment as a response to these abuses, you abandon the very remedy the Framers designed for such lawlessness.
You are now ON NOTICE: We, your constituents, will hold you accountable through the following actions unless you reverse course:
No future votes or support: We will withhold our votes and public support unless you publicly file or co‑sponsor articles of impeachment by February 24, 2026, and commit to supporting the defunding and abolition of ICE.
Primary challenge mobilization: We will recruit, fund, and vote for candidates who uphold their oath and support constitutional remedies, including impeachment.
Donor and community outreach: Major donors, business leaders, churches, and civic groups in MO‑07 will receive documented evidence of your refusal to use constitutional checks on executive power.
Daily media campaign: We will submit Letters to the Editor to the Joplin Globe and Springfield News‑Leader naming your specific rejection of impeachment and failure to act; we will produce social media content (e.g., #PrimaryBurlison, #ReplaceBurlison, tagging 50501 Missouri, Citizens Against Tyranny, Flare USA) documenting your stance.
Voter outreach activation: We will contact Republican, independent, and Democratic voters across MO‑07 to inform them of your position on unauthorized war, child seizures, and economic harm to farmers and workers, and your refusal to pursue impeachment.
You can immediately reverse this course by publicly committing—by February 24, 2026—to file or co‑sponsor impeachment articles and to support legislation defunding and abolishing ICE. History will record whether Missouri‑07’s Representative defended the Republic or enabled tyranny. Choose your legacy.
Signed by
Missouri‑07 voters (as of February 17, 2026)
Public Record: This Notice will be posted online and distributed district‑wide.
